Every year a star is born, they say. On the sixth day of the sixth month in 1985, another of those stars, Yaw Sarpong-Kumankuma appeared.
Yaw is an energetic, dynamic and spirited Ghanaian-born professional with great strength in entrepreneurial experience, music industry knowledge, events production, sales experience and art direction. His ability to multi-task in the creative industry has till date been his claim to greatness.
He was born in Kumasi-Ghana where he had his basic education through to university.
Yaw holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Art from Kwame Nkrumah University of Sceince and Technology. His life as a business professional started at the age of 22 when he established his first company, DecoRate Limited, a design firm in 2008. During the same time, He doubled as a salesman for Delta Air Lines where he left and subsequently joined Metro TV again as a Marketing officer.
Since that time till now, he has created a high niche for himself in the Creative industry as arguably the most outstanding and distinguished person to indulge in that department with his Concept Development and unparalleled art direction and project management. One of the highest points of his design portfolio was when he was chosen amongst competitors the world over by the Ghana Bar Association to design Ex-President Kuffour’s lifetime achievement award package. He has since combined his skills and his entrepreneship drive to set up a fashion label called Captain Carter Mens Closet, clothing and styling most celebrities and influential figures in Africa and the world.
In the field of music, he is also seen as one of the most vibrant talent developers and managers. He is a founding member of CUE World Limited commonly known as “The Cue”. Together with his team, they are behind the unleashing of many great musicians like Mr. Eazi of “Bankulize” and “Skin Tight” fame, Atumpan of “The Thing” fame, Lousika and Kojo-Cue, now a BBNZ recording artist.

In 2015 he added acting to his list when he played a supporting role in an Abraham Ohene-Djan movie, Dreams & Hip-Hop. He played David Carter in the yet-to-be-released movie.
