Watch dance for Ghana team Commonwealth Games 2014.
With Africa’s Commonwealth Games associations primed and ready to take Glasgow by storm in pursuit of a common goal, gold medals, SuperSport is also ready to flick the button on three 24-hour channels for coverage of the 23rd July – 3rd August sporting extravaganza.
With Africa traditionally in the thick of things on the medal table, the coverage on Africa’s premier sports broadcasting network will include extensive broadcasts of traditionally strong codes like athletics, netball, Sevens rugby, weightlifting and boxing. Other sports will also enjoy unprecedented coverage.
SuperSport will have a 14-strong team in Glasgow, spearheaded by athletics specialist James Wokabi of Kenya and South Africa’s Crystal Arnold. The bulk of Africa’s medals are expected to come from the swimming pool and the athletics track.
SuperSport 5/HD will take a broader look at the Games and SS7/HD will focus on African Commonwealth nations. SS9 will serve also as an overflow channel.
Moreover, news gathering teams will feed news items to SuperSport Blitz, while extended highlights will be available on VOD and the Catch Up service, where available.
Coverage starts with the opening ceremony on the eve of the Games, on July 23 from 10pm CAT (SS5/HD). Twenty-four-hour coverage will start mid-morning on July 24.
