Viasat1’s Benny Bonsu honoured at the Annual African Union Diaspora Forum Awards & Dinner

She is an award winning presenter, a fashion designer, a talented writer, and also part of the organizing committee for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Benny Bonsu is a Ghanaian powerhouse that is living out her purpose and serving each day as an inspiration to the new generations of Africa. Not only is she building a reputable image for herself, but she is also carrying others along with her through her charity “BAME Inspired- a charity organization set up to work with governing bodies, major brands, and companies to develop sports and implement strategies that drive business in Africa.

Benny is well respected and established in the media & sports environment with over 10 years’ experience. She started off as a journalist for MVP24/7, a successful online magazine entertainment strand. While in London, Benny became part of the ground breaking team of journalists who wrote and interviewed some of the world’s well-loved celebrities such as: Tony Parker, Dwayne Wade, Demar DeRozan, Abou Diaby, Kevin Prince Boateng, Andrey Arshavin, Darren Brent, Jermaine Defoe, Kolo Toure, John Paintsil, Derek Safo, including politicians such as David Lammy, Gordon Brown and Tony Blair. She then went on to work for Prince Charles at the Princes Trust as a Team leader, raising and organizing some of the biggest events in the UK to support young people back into education or employment.

She relocated 8months ago to Ghana after 5years with the London Olympics Organizing Committee. In Ghana, she was Head of own Productions at Viasat 1 Ghana producing some of the biggest shows in Ghana, while she was working closelywith NBA Africa, amongst many other projects. She is now off to the UK as the new face of a new English Premier League show to be aired Pan-Africa and Europe.

Benny Bonsu was saluated and honoured at the African Union Diaspora Forum MissionAnnual Awards & Dinner 2013 for “being an inspiration to the nextgeneration and giving Africa a positive face around the world” along side Kirk Franklin, Rita Marley, Bishop Barbara Lewis King, Jim Ike, Dr. Kofi Amoah, Prof. Atukwei Okai, Dr. Desta Meghoo, Dr. Chika Onyeani, Ms. Cordie Aziz, Mr. Robert Botts and Mr. Adeleke Omitowoju.

Head of Mission H.E. Dr. Erieka Bennett said, “I love Benny Bonsu. I love what she has achieved, what she is doing now and what she is going to do in the future. She is really special.”

Through her presence in media, fashion and sports, she continues to show the world that black girls rock!
