Hundreds of revelers gathered at the Junction Mall in Nungua on New Year’s Eve for a special countdown to 2017 as they cheered and danced to music from their favourite musicians at the Tigo Festival of Lights and Music.
For many, it wasn’t just meeting and jamming to their performances of their idols, there was lights and more lights after the countdown to 2017 ended.
The Patch Bay band brought their A-game to bear on the night as they dished out different tunes to the admiration of the patrons. They managed to get the patrons in a party mood before the first headline artiste, Gospel act; Cwesi Oteng took over to perform his urbanize Gospel songs.
Starr FM Drive Time host, Giovanni Caleb who served as the MC for the night counted down with the crowd while the second headline act, Gospel musician Obaapa Christy gave one of the most energetic performances with the crowd singing along. The high point perhaps for many was when the lights went off for the countdown to usher in the New Year.
As soon as it hit 12am and the countdown ended, the sky was lit with fireworks. It was just an amazing experience for many – the moment they will savour for a very long time.
The main headliner, Shatta Wale prior to the show had promised to give out his Toyota Camry car to a loyal fan at the event. GhanaGist.Com didn’t think he was going to deliver but on the night, he actually gave out more than he promised.
He also gave out mobile phones and laptops and thanked his fans for always supporting his art in the face of criticisms from a section of the media and music bodies.
Aside all goodies, Shatta Wale gave out his first performance in 2017 and it was the kind of performance that gives multiple orgasms on the first day of the year. Starr FM’s DJ Vyrusky in between sets and after the show turned the Junction Mall into a party.
From the Team behind GhanaGist, we wish you all a wonderful year.
