Music, the artistic form of auditory communication incorporating instrumental or vocal tunes in a structured and continuous manner, is gradually becoming a lovable career in Ghana.
The phase of Ghanaian music has taken turns over the past few years. It has yet added another delight to our rich Ghanaian culture. As the love for music grows in the hearts of people, so has the music maker.
Samuel Addo Frimpong, an upcoming hip/hop/hip life artist is looking forward to becoming the biggest hit in the Ghanaian music industry a few years to come. The 21 year old who goes by the stage name “Medikal” was born to Mrs. Porshia Lamptey and Mr. James Frimpong in Sowutuom; a suburb in Accra-Ghana.
Growing up he fancied rapping about doctors, surgeons, nurses and patience-basically the hospital and what goes on in it. Interestingly, he wanted to prove to his colleagues that he was a “sick” rapper; that was why all his raps hospital based.
Speaking to Fountain Media International, the young rapper clarified that “Sick” in this sense did not mean I’ll-but rather a way to describe how good or”dope” his raps were. Since his flow was also medical, the name “Medikal” was given to him by his school dad way back in junior high.
So far, he has released four tunes and yet to release another one on Friday the eight of January 2016. Some of the tunes released include “forever my love” ft Bisa Kdie “P3 kakra” with Criss Waddle.
The young artist says he derived his inspiration from Lil Wayne, Skepta (both of whom are international artists) Sarkodie, Paeda and Cris waddle and now dropping his newest video dubbed CONFIRM on Friday, 15th January, 2016 on platforms like MTV Base, Vevo, Trace Urban, Soundcity TV, Celebrity TV, 4SYTE TV and GhoneTV.
When asked whether he was ready to compete with the ace musicians and rappers in Ghana, the young musician answered positively with so much enthusiasm. He also mentioned that it was not going to be easy since he is just raising but he is determined to make it through with God on his side.
Medikal says he sings for the youth as he is also a youngster but then his music reaches out to everyone even though his main target audience is the youth. Adding to the story he wants to motivate and inspire the youth to do what they love best with determination and faith as they are play an integral role in success. Young Samuel However is not only looking forward to making it big in Ghana, but international too.
