During her visit to the family house of the late actor and the former president of the Ghana Actors’ Guild, Nii Odoi Mensah, Minister of Tourism, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare announced that, President John Dramani Mahama has promised to help in bringing his remains to Ghana for burial.
She said, the President described the late actor as his buddy and will do his best to help the family in their time of need.
It is rumoured that, the family needed $68,000 to bring the mortal remains of the late actor back home from China, but the family has dismissed as untrue.
The gesture by the president may be good news to the family of the late actor but according to the Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Micheal Kwaku Ola, there is no sense in bringing the remains home.
“It’s going to cost $68,000 which is almost triple the amount he needed to survive to bring the body back to Ghana, this is senseless,” he said on Happy FM’s ‘Showbiz Extra’.
Nii Odoi Mensah died Tuesday, April 12, 2015 whiles in China for a kidney transplant. Before finally going on the trip for the transplant, he virtually ‘begged’ for money. Only few people then came to his aid to enable him embark on the trip.
