Big Brother: The Chase’s sweetest romance came to an end during Sunday night’s live eviction show as Hakeem was split from Cleo and evicted by viewer votes. Malawi’s Fatima also left behind an almost equally-bereft Natasha, as she was also sent packing. In contrast to Fatima, who picked up 5 nominations from her housemates, Hakeem was only up for eviction after Head of House Melvin saved Selly and put the Zimbabwean up for eviction in her place.
A visibly shaken Hakeem joined IK on stage, appearing to fight back tears when quizzed about Cleo. He promised IK that his relationship with her was genuine and that he had also bonded with Bimp inside the house. Fatima had to fend off fellow Malawian Natasha as the latter dissolved into sobs at the announcement that her newfound friend had been evicted this week. Fatima explained to IK that she had waited too long to bond with Natasha because in pairing up with a countrymate “you automatically become a target”.
Tanzanian star Wakazi rocked the stage with a medley of his hits ‘Weekend’ and ‘Touch’ as Nigerian screen star Rita Dominic looked on from the audience. He returned after the evictions with another fusion, this time featuring ‘Sexy Lady’ and ‘Abacus’.
The Ruby housemates were victorious in this week’s Airtel Arena Showdown and Elikem caused quite a sensation when he brought Pokello and Selly across to the Ruby house at the expense of Annabel and Feza, moving them to the Diamond house.
Last week’s evictees, Bolt and Maria, seem to have been enjoying their time away from The Chase. Bolt told viewers it was awesome to be recognized in public and promised that he’d never faked anything about his feelings for Betty. Maria said she wouldn’t have changed anything about her time in The Chase and that told viewers that she would love to keep in touch with Sulu and Bassey – and of course her friend Dillish.
Boity Thulo gave viewers the inside track on how to use the Timeline function on the official Big Brother website,www.bigbrotherafrica.com. Selecting the Timeline at the top of the page gives users the opportunity to view news and videos by day, from the inception of The Chase, all the way through to Day 91, when the winner will be revealed.
Big Brother threw out another red herring for the remaining housemates this week, with a fake Emerald housemate appearing on stage to add intrigue to the mix when IK did his crossing into the houses.
Last week’s ‘Romantic Gesture’ competition was won by Elikem, for delivering breakfast in bed to Pokello. There are three options this week to vote for – (A) Feza’s admission of true love, (B) Hakeem’s real marriage proposal and (C) Oneal’s admission of true love. To vote via Twitter, tweet “Vote A”, “Vote B” or “Vote C” with the hashtag #bigbroafrica or #bbathechase.
This week’s viewer vote winners were: HD PVR Decoder – Remisa Beckley (Sierra Leone); Uhuru Tablet – Kentse Mmamaru Sebitiela (Botswana) and DStv Walka – Anna Mthimkulu (South Africa). Don’t forget to vote to keep your favourite housemate in the game after Monday’s nominations, to stand a chance to win!
