With Papa and R Tay going home over weekend, the MTN Hitmaker competition is hitting a crescendo as it draws to an end.
After scooping the Best Performance the week before, crooner, R Tay couldn’t believe it when he found himself in the bottom three with Papa and Mina where the judges saved Mina due to her consistent performance through the competition.
On the night, Papa won Best Costume whiles Mac M took away the Best Performance and sound engineer Nana Fynn also grabbed Best Production.
So far six contestants have been evicted (Leety, Anji, Fameye, Ink, Papa and R.Tay) and six (Naba, Mina, Snow B, Emperor, Mac-M and Torgbe) more still have the dream of winning the GH¢100,000 winner takes all recording deal.
This weekend only one contestant will go home. The contestants are therefore fighting tooth and nail, spending all their time in the studios and preparing for each week so as to impress voters and judges.
R Tay said he gave all his best but obviously voters weren’t impressed with his output.
“I did work hard but at the same time I have also seen my mistakes which I am going to work on. I believe I am going to be a star. For the coming weeks I am going into the studio and come out big,” he said.
Papa said he has learnt a lot from the competition and all the lessons will be put into effect when he comes out with his songs in the coming weeks.
“It is a mixed feeling. I am depressed and down but it cannot be the end of the world. I am going back to the drawing board and certainly I want to have a career in music so I am going to plan properly and Ghanaian will see more of me and it is Highlife all the way.”
