The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is to hold a Peace Walk in Accra on Friday as part of its initiative to promote the need for peace before, during and after the elections in December. The peace initiative is supported by STAR Ghana.
The walk will start from Efua Sutherland Park and go through Adabraka, Kwame Nkrumah Avenue through the High Street and back to the Efua Sutherland Park. According to the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the MUSIGA Ras Caleb Appiah Levi, other stakeholder groups like churches keep fit groups, schools and members of the Union of Informal Workers Association (UNIWA) are joining.
He invited all musicians and other Creative Industry practitioners to join the walk to propagate the message of peace.
MUSIGA has held Peace Walks in nine regional capitals and on Friday held a peace concert in Sunyani.
Other activities lined up as part of the MUSIGA peace initiative which is dubbed “Using Music as a tool for National Cohesion in Election 2016” include peace concerts in Tamale on October 15 and in Accra on December 3.
Meanwhile the MUSIGA Peace songs compilation is enjoying airplay on radio stations in the country.
