MultiChoice Ghana Launches DStv Africa Trending Sessions + Highlights from DStv this week

On the 11th of December 2014, MultiChoice Ghana launched the DStv Africa Trending Sessions. The idea with these sessions is to create a platform they can use to build relationships with all stakeholders (media, industry influencers, and the entertainment industry). This same platform will be used to communicate company updates, industry trends; channel launches, what’s trending in the entertainment industry

In line with the first DStv Africa Trending Session was used to launch the Vuzu Amp and M-Net Edge channels as well as the DStv Now app, which allows subscribers to watch Live TV, enjoy DStv Catch Up, download their favorite shows to watch later or view the TV Guide all on their mobile phones or tablets.

Vuzu Amp (114) is the home of many accredited series among them The Vampire Diaries, Devious Maids, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, So You Think You Can Dance and Pretty Little Liars. It also boasts of the “Express from the US” line which allows subscribers to watch new series within 24 hours after it airs in the US it can be found on your Catch Up and repeated after 7 days on Channel 101.

M-Net Edge 113 on the other hand features cult-craze series from Hollywood – the kind of shows you would prefer not to watch with the entire family. Among the big attractions are the brand new series Masters of Sex and Satisfaction, as well as new seasons of The Americans, Defiance and American Horror Story and Orange is the New Black.

The mobile app, DStv Now is currently on offer to DStv Premium subscribers with a PVR or Explora decoder, on both iOS and Android tablets and mobile phones through 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi internet connections.

Present at the event was Irene Logan who entertained the crowd and Anita Erskine who drove the event. Speaking at the event, Mr. Cecil Sunkwa Mills, General Manager for MultiChoice Ghana and Director for GOtv Ghana mentioned that “MultiChoice is constantly watching the international and local dynamics and innovating to ensure we remain at the forefront of new technology and trends.” And it was as part of MultiChoice’s desire to give viewers more control over that the DStv Now app has been introduced.

He also mentioned that this year alone DStv has launched in excess of 10 new channels excluding the ad-hoc broadcasts which our subscribers look forward to like Big Brother, Idols and the , the Oscar Pistorius Trial channel and commended the media for the job their continuous support of MultiChoice and spreading awareness of the DStv and GOtv brands. He also thanked the entertainment industry for their earnest support in MultiChoice and M-Net’s bid to provide quality African programs and content.

Three lucky media personalities, Ameyaw Debrah, Mamavi Aboagye and Sam Baako Jnr won free Ipods for being creative with their #DStvAfricaTrending tweets while Livingstone Lotsu went away with an Explora for being the most creative with his tweets.

The Ghost Inside My Child explores the incredible stories of children of all ages who claim they remember living and dying as a different person in a previous life.

The programme is not about dreams but about reincarnation.

The series features two young boys who have inexplicably strange obsessions and horrific nightmares, describing events they could not have possibly witnessed or have been exposed to.

Another makes drawings of World War II fighter planes and of evacuating children from a war zone.

The Ghost Inside My Child will attempt to make sense of these stories, which are often inexplicable and confounding for everyone affected.
