The show has been created for music hopefuls in Ghana to showcase their talent and creativity in a competitive environment and seek an opportunity to advance their professional development. Log on to www.mtnplay.com.gh to register and participate in MTN Hitmaker 5.
The Hitmaker show has been hugely successful because of the platform it creates for grooming gifted and talented young people to become music stars.
Naterial, who emerged winner of the first competition has inspired many young and aspiring musicians to participate in subsequent editions. Season two saw Koo Ntakra emerge winner, and just like Naterial he went on to make a positive mark in the music industry.
Togbe and Kidi, respective winners of Seasons Three and Four have each released their singles and are enjoying a lot of support within the industry. Through mtnplay, music lovers and fans of Hitmakers are able to download their favourite music and videos.
In 2015, MTN introduced an innovation which gave contestants the opportunity to upload demos via WhatsApp. This year, in addition to logging on to www.mtnplay.com.gh to fill a registration form and participate, potential Hitmakers also have the option to upload their demos on Facebook and/or Youtube with the hashtag #MTNHitmaker5.
Following the uploads, judges will evaluate the videos and invite potential hitmakers to the semi-finals. This means no auditioning or one on one preliminary selections will be done. All the contestants have to do is to make good use of their phones, tablets or computers to upload their videos.
The top prize for the winner of the 2016 Hitmaker is a GHC 100,000 recording prize package and additional exciting prizes.
