Ghanaian international model Belinda Baidoo has launched Belinda Baidoo Model Search Africa, a new modelling reality series.
The 12-week reality series is designed to equip young Ghanaian female models with the requisite skills, tools and the knowledge to succeed in their trade.
“It is to develop local talents that can compete on the global stage while promoting African ideals, values and cultures,” she said at the launch.
She promised it would be the best modelling reality series to hit Ghanaian TV screens soon.
According to her, the show would be organised in other African countries as well.
But in Ghana, 12 different contestants will be selected from various auditions in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale.
For a period of 12 weeks, contestants will be kept in the search house and given an overview of the global opportunities in the modelling industry.
They will compete in activities including cat-walking, photo shoots, makeup and styling, client relationship and marketing skills and self-confidence among others.
There will be weekly evictions until two contestants remain in the house. The two will go to the grand finale and the ultimate winner will, as part of her prize package, sign a contract with MSA Models, New York and Los Angeles.
The reality show is expected to be exciting as Belinda Baidoo will host it herself.
She is a Ghanaian supermodel who came on the scene after winning Top Model of Afrique in 1998. She then went on to sign a top New York agency, Q Model Management.
Belinda has been seen on billboard advertisements in New York’s famous Times Square along with international fashion magazine spreads & advertisements. She has been the face of major international companies such as L’Oreal, Nike, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Clairol, African Pride, Mizani, Victoria Secret, Donna Karen, Marc Jacobs, MAC Cosmetics, Target, Clinique, Guinness, and Motorola, along with international publications such as Vogue, Essence, Cosmopolitan, just to name a few.
While working internationally at a successful modelling career, Belinda established her own modelling agency in Ghana called B2Models, where she continues to mentor and develop Ghana’s international models of the future.
The Belinda Baidoo Model Search Africa is her new platform to help nurture young models.
