Joe Mettle becomes first Gospel musician to win Artiste of the Year at Ghana Music Awards

Gospel musician Joe Mettle was crowned Artiste of the Year at the 2017 edition of the annual Ghana Music Awards which took place on April 8, 2017 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

He became the first ever Gospel musician to win the nod in the category that comprised of former winners Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, E.L, new entrant Medikal and the only female, MzVee.

On the night, Joe Mettle also picked home the Best Gospel Artiste of the Year as well as the Best Male Vocalist of the Year.

Songwriter of the Year: Kofi Kinaata – Confession

Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year: Stonebwoy

Hiplife/HipHop Artiste of the Year: Sarkodie

Highlife Artiste of the Year: Kofi Kinaata

Afro-Pop Song of the Year: Kaabu Ame – EL
