Popular gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong doesn’t side with Charterhouse, organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for nominating ‘God Dey Bless Me’ hit maker Cwesi Oteng for the category of Album of The Year and Gospel Album of The Year.
He revealed the musician doesn’t have an album so it baffles him to see Cwesi Oteng nominated for these categories. He made this known during an interview he had with Accra-based radio station Peace 104.3 FM.
“I love Cwesi but I want to ask Ghanaians for answers. How many times have you heard Cwesi Oteng’s song being played on radio and TV?” he said. “There is a particular radio station in Accra who plays his song every morning and apart from them, how many times do you hear his song on Peace FM, Adom FM, GTV, TV3, Metro and others?” he added.
“Cwesi Oteng has no album so Charterhouse should go back to their drawing board and have a second look at this. I don’t hate anybody but the truth should prevail so that the respect they deserve will be accorded to them (Charterhouse). How do you nominate someone who has no album for these categories? That means you want to give him the award by all means,” he concluded.
He further called on the organisers to come out and explain why the ‘I Win’ singer was nominated for these categories
