Kumawood is a money making industry with several movies churned out regularly.
It is also an industry that has suffered several criticisms due to poor quality movies produced but that is not enough reason to deter songstress and television personality, Deborah Vanessa.
“My heart is in Kumawood but when I tell people like Nana Ama McBrown to connect me, they think I’m just fooling. But that’s where my heart is,” Deborah revealed.
Commenting on why she wants to act in Kumawood movies, she said, “I just like it. It is funny and because comedy is part of our culture. When I was not in Ghana I used to watch Agya Koo a lot. I like Liwin too. I like Nana Ama McBrown.”
Sister Deborah as she is affectionately called may be appearing in a film titled Black Sunshine and directed by Akosua Adomah, last year’s Africa Movie Academy Awards Best Short film winner.
“Maybe next year I might be in a movie by director Akosua Adomah. It is called Black Sunshine. But apart from that I have done musicals. I am in Coz Moni 1 and 2. Then I did a cameo in the first Afia Schwarzenegger…But not actual movie,” she said.
