Ghana has been selected to host the 2nd round of the Hockey TAP West Africa programme from May 28th to June 5th 2015.
The nine day event would be held at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra is part of efforts to develop the game of hockey in the country,
A 4-year development partnership between the Ghana Hockey Association (GHA) and England Hockey with support from UK Sports and the Africa Hockey Federation, will see a team of expert resource persons in fields ranging from high performance training to umpiring and coaching arrive in Ghana on May 27th for the programme.
Darren Cheeseman, Siegfried Aikman and Mark Jarvis will also join the TAP Resource Team to help facilitate the various components of the project.
This year’s programme, would see a high performance training camp for the National Women’s Team, level 1 and 2 coaches’ courses, foundation and advance umpire’s training courses in Greater Accra Region for the southern sector and the Ashanti Region for the northern sector.
According to the Secretary General of the GHA Mr. Daniel Kenaz Mensah this year the TAP team will spend two-days in the Ashanti Region as compared to the one day spent in that region last year.
He noted that this year’s program is expected to attract participants from almost all the regions of the country as well as a number of West African Countries.
The launching of this year’s event would be held on Monday May 30th at the Conference room of the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium at 9:00am.
