We have done a music-movie celebrity ratio stories on this column for a while and today we want to give you a spiritual celebrated and one of the most influential personalities in Ghana as our GhanaGist Star of the Week.
Pastor Mensah Otabil was born 2 years after Ghana gained Independence to Dinah and Lloyd Otabil in the Western part of Ghana, Sekondi-Takoradi.
Pastor Mensa Otabil is a man of God who exalts peace and lives a peaceful life. He is a Ghanaian speaker, entrepreneur, philanthropist, theologian and motivational speaker. He is happily married to Joy Otabil with four children.
He has evolved and shaped the lives of many through his doctrine and teachings under his founding leadership of the International Central Gospel Church (I.C.G.C).
He is also the Founder and Chancellor of Central University College and the CEO of a Leadership Growth Consultancy firm, Otabil and Associates.
He started the International Central Gospel Church (I.C.G.C) on February 26, 1984 in a classroom at the Kanda Cluster of Schools, and later moved to Sal Valley School also in the suburb of Kanda.
He has a chain of ministry network which bear different Temple names but still an allied to the International Central Gospel Church. He even serves as the General Overseer and Senior Pastor at the headquarters, popularly called the Christ Temple and has had opportunities to feature on international platforms to minister.
Pastor Otabil’s love for audio and visual production started when he worked at the Audio Visual Department of the Ministry of Information with Edwin Donkor who later became a pastor also with him at the International Central Gospel Church (I.C.G.C).
He has managed to publish some leadership and devotional books. Among few you can check out are; “5 steps to Answer Prayer”, “Anointed to Start and Finish” and “How to be filled with the Holy Spirit”.
Aside mounting the pulpit and administering his role as the CEO of Otabil and Associates, he engages himself in charity projects. Every year he campaigns with his ICGC family to support the less privileged in society. Under his governance at ICGC, they helped build the boy’s hostel for the Osu Children’s Home and also reached donations to the Ghana Heart Foundation.
ICGC is the first church to initiate the 31st Night outdoor Christian fellowship in the country and now different churches are emulating and even adopted the theme name “CrossOver”.
Many successful young entrepreneurs owe their credit to this great motivational speaker. When you listen or watch his tapes you learn more to life. He doesn’t come with miracles like some spiritual pastors but his doctrine are practical for every hungry person who wants to be successful and strong in the Gospel.
