#GhanaGist Star Of The Week: Funny Face | Swag-On Entertainment CEO

This week, GhanaGist.com wants to bring to light one of Ghana’s comic brand that has put smiles on many and has become an household name with due credit to the weekly Chorkor Trotro TV Series.

Some call him Chemu because of his role play in Chorkor Trotro. Others call him the “Swag-On Papa”. I’m sure a lot of is comical displays and works will be running through your mind now. But rest your smiles and let’s probe the life of this comical celebrity.

The Kwahu Abetifi native, Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng started as a comic entertainer at the early stages of his career through the tertiary institutions and small organized party events but had his major breakthrough when he appeared on the Night of 1010 Laughs in the year 2010 organized by Charterhouse.

Funny Face is not only noted for comedy and acting but has a versatile trade with music inclusive. He has released songs like Odo Bekumi featuring Castro and Samira, Banana, Basabasa featuring Bisa kdei, Daabu Daabu featuring D2, Aponkye, and My Car in appreciation to Adebayor, Cow and Chicken and the recent Go Down Low featuring Joe Deevans.

He has also made cameo appearances in Castro and Asamoah Gyan’s Odo, D2’s Mama Ne Dada among others.

He is a testimony of how raw talents can mature to Icons. A comical brand that has gained affiliations with major corporate entities that endorses and bills him for ads and endorsements.

He spearheaded the Vodafone Ghana Red Campaign. He also toured 120 various basic and secondary schools with Zoom Lion Ghana Limited educating them on the essence of sanitation and environmental cleaning. Magic Malt Beverage Drink and Heaven Black Mosquito Coil are among the few adverts he has featured.

He always says his talent growth was per exploration of his earlier living condition. He told one reporter in the UK “Hunger!!! When hunger strikes, you’ll know what to do with your life to stay strong. I grew up in a very poor background and it’s only by God’s grace and my mother’s love that I’ve been able to reach this far. God picked me from nowhere and has now placed me somewhere.”

One will say Elizabeth Nana Adjoa Ntim, a C.I.D by profession is very lucky to be married to Funny Face. Despite the challenges in every marital home, she will be full of enough fun, humour and happiness from the Swag-On Boss.

I propose my Editor In Chief, Ebenezer Anangfio will give me the opportunity to grant her a lengthy interview so we know what happens at the “Swag On” Home with her husband.

Funny Face is always good at every task he engages himself and with the core intends of entertaining people with laughter. The addition of Funny Face at the recent Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) was a right choice and he delivered to audience satisfaction with his humorous stage words.

In relation to awards nominations he describes his music as senseless and I guess that is the reason no music critic raise concerns about his songs not been nominated.

He is a celebrated icon by kids and he has an annual Charity fund raising event, The Funny Face Fun Festival which assembles kids from all walks of life to have fun and he presents some rates of the gate proceeds to Charity.

You should witness one of it and you will be dumbfounded by the turn up and how the kids sing along and hail his “senseless” songs.

The C.E.O of Swag-On Entertainment, Funny Face is GhanaGist’s Star of the Week.
