Meet the media entrepreneur who currently stands tall in Ghana’s entertainment industry. He is a professional Radio Broadcaster, Television Personality and an Entertainment and Media Entrepreneur who attracts the hails and praise “Bolas!” or “Bola Ray”.
Entertainment has always been a part of him even through his educational ranks. From Entertainment Prefect at Accra Academy Secondary School, to his engagement with the position of Entertainment Secretary at the Legon Hall at the University of Ghana Business School and also the task role as Entertainment Secretary on the Student Representative Council (SRC)-University of Ghana.
Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi is the C.E.O of EIB Networks with Accra based branch outfits like Starr 103.5 FM, Kasapa 102.3 FM, Live 91.9, Ultimate 106.9 FM in Kumasi and the print media hub, Heritage Newspaper. He is also the C.E.O of Empire Entertainment.
Kwabena Anokye Adisi aka Bola Ray started getting attention with his radio business when he was host of “Top City Jam” with Top Radio after Radio Universe and joined Joy FM in 2003 as the Host of the Drive Time Show which got him more popular on radio with his significant style and unique presentation.
His success journey of establishing an event house, Empire Entertainment started from his car boot in 2005 when he will meet clients and take and keep all files and related documents in his car boot. After a time frame of the car boot business, he managed to get an office space at Laterbiokorshie.
In 2010, Empire Entertainment had the birth of Ghana Meets Naija. But one major challenge he encountered with his team was raising money to bill the artistes for the event. He managed to get a loan from a friend, Kevin Kobiri after discussing the event project with him. Five years down memory lane, “Ghana Meets Naija” is one of the best annual celebrated events on the entertainment calendar in the country.
Records bear him as the first African and Ghanaian to host “Top of the Pops” on BBC Radio and undoubtedly he is one personality that has stood and fought for the growth of the entertainment industry in Ghana with his adverse promotions for artiste and establishment of business platforms to create extensive revenue for the media and entertainment industry.
He has won several awards to his credit like the radio Programme of the Year at the RTP Awards, Ghana Showbiz Personality of the Year at the 14th City Peoples Awards held in Nigeria, Professional Radio Presenter for the Year at the Vector Recognition Awards and recently picked up two Awards at the GN Bank Awards for thr Favourite Personality and Best Male Presenter of the Year category.
I can’t wait for this weekend to witness the 5th Edition of Tigo Ghana Meets Naija as the Nigeria based Supreme Marvin Dynasty (SMD) music group faces other headline performers from Ghana like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.
The Emperor, Bola Ray is GhanaGist’s Star of the Week.
