The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Alfred Nii Oko Vanderpuye, has said that he will put in the appropriate measures for the nation to host the Miss World Pageant in Accra.
Speaking at the Congratulatory Reception for Miss World Africa, Naa Okailey Shooter, the Mayor said that such plans are already underway as his office has made a commitment with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. He added that the event will bring the nation a lot of benefits, “We have the beautiful ladies and we will host the Miss World Pageant With the aim of winning. It is good for our economy future as a nation.”
In response, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare congratulated Miss Shooter, stating that her success at the Miss World Pageant is the cause of confidence in the nation’s officials. Mrs. Adjare then urged corporate Ghana to support the Miss Ghana pageant as the President, H.E John Dramani Mahama is already doing.
Organizers of the event, Exclusive Events Ghana pledge their unflinching support to make the mayor’s dream a reality. The Chief Executive Officer of Exclusive Events Ghana, Miss Inna Maryam Patty mentioned that Ghana is ready to host Miss World Pageant as the nation has through the efforts of Miss Shooter reaffirmed its growing footprint on the world stage. The time has therefore come for the country to host the world acclaimed contest which it has been part of for over 50 years now.
At the congratulatory reception held for Miss Shooter, all three speakers applauded the beauty queen for raising high the flag of Ghana. The event which came off at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel attracted several dignitaries and high profile persons in the entertainment industry including President of the Musicians Association of Ghana (MUSIGA) Bice Osei Kuffour alias Obour. Also in attendance were the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie and winner of Miss Ghana 2013 Miss Giuseppina Baafi.
Miss Okaily Shooter ceased the opportunity to thank all who supported her in diverse ways during the contest, mentioning that the entire experience has made her humble and patriotic. She pledged to continue the good work of the Miss Ghana Foundation whiles calling on all to support her Buruli Ulcer project.
The show was graced by the Ghana Dance Ensemble and Sensational singer Nino and Kobby of RANA fame.
