The Musicians Union of Ghana has expressed its appreciation to all media organizations that supported its call to celebrate March 3 at Ghana Music Day as part of Ghana Music Week Festival 2017.
The President of the Union Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour in also thankful for the support the music industry is receiving from Ghanaians.
According to the MUSIGA President, the music industry is a potent vehicle for sustainable development considering its immense revenue generating potential and its impact on society.
The President thanked the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Hon Catherine Afeku for her support in making the Ghana Music Day a meaningful one.
Other activities lined up for GMW Festival 2017 include a Music Honors and International Music Expo at the National Theatre on Saturday March 4, a music business seminar on Tuesday March 7 and a 3 day music festival at the Black Star Square from March 10 – 12.
This year’s GMW Festival is part of the Ghana 60 Years On celebrations.
Meanwhile MUSIGA has also commended the Minister for taking urgent steps to establish the Creative Arts Council with the introduction of the leadership of the Council which has Mark Okraku Mantey as its President, Gyankoma Akufo-Addo as Director and actress Betty Bright as Secretary.
