Africa is the world’s second largest and second most-populous continent; it is also the cradle of civilization; rich in diversity, abundant in ethnicity and bursting with languages, making it only fitting that a day is set aside to celebrate its uniqueness.

Multichoice Ghana on Friday 10th May 2013 celebrated the day at the Mamaga Restaurant (Aphrodisiac) at Dzorwulu in Accra to commemorate the Africa Day which falls on 25th May 2013.  The event was attended by a number of Ghanaian celebrities, such as Eazzy, Keita Osei, DKB, Alex Biney, Confidence Haugen, James Gardner, Lydia Forson, Socrates Safo and Amanda Jisseh, as well as members of the media.

Addressing the guests, Mr. Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, General Manager of Multichoice Ghana, indicated that the day was to celebrate African diversity and to highlight the cultural and economic potential that exists on the African continent which is so relevant to DStv.

Multichoice has over the years used the month of May to promote Africa’s notably rich history and array of celebrated revolutionary icons in a celebration dubbed Africa Month. Throughout the month of May, African content will be a key focus on homegrown channels on DStvMultiple home-grown channels like Africa Magic, Channel O and SuperSport, have over the years unearthed African talents through a variety of exciting programming including Big Brother, Stargist, 53 Extra and Soccer Africa to name a few, whilst Channel O continues to promote African music and musicians. There are other channels such as e.TV Africa, Vox Africa, Afro Pop, History, BBC Knowledge and MTV Base that have incorporated African content in some of their shows”, he said.

Alternatively, GOtv’s Plus Bouquet has 27 exciting channels and a subscription of GHS 21.00 per month.

Existing customers are currently being offered a 10% discount on monthly subscription to subscribers who pay their fees before their due date. Subscribers who pay an annual subscription qualify for a 12% discount meaning that subscribers can save up to GHC200 on their annual subscription.
