Multichoice Ghana on Friday 10th May 2013 celebrated the day at the Mamaga Restaurant (Aphrodisiac) at Dzorwulu in Accra to commemorate the Africa Day which falls on 25th May 2013. The event was attended by a number of Ghanaian celebrities, such as Eazzy, Keita Osei, DKB, Alex Biney, Confidence Haugen, James Gardner, Lydia Forson, Socrates Safo and Amanda Jisseh, as well as members of the media.
Addressing the guests, Mr. Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, General Manager of Multichoice Ghana, indicated that the day was to celebrate African diversity and to highlight the cultural and economic potential that exists on the African continent which is so relevant to DStv.
“Multichoice has over the years used the month of May to promote Africa’s notably rich history and array of celebrated revolutionary icons in a celebration dubbed Africa Month. Throughout the month of May, African content will be a key focus on homegrown channels on DStv. Multiple home-grown channels like Africa Magic, Channel O and SuperSport, have over the years unearthed African talents through a variety of exciting programming including Big Brother, Stargist, 53 Extra and Soccer Africa to name a few, whilst Channel O continues to promote African music and musicians. There are other channels such as e.TV Africa, Vox Africa, Afro Pop, History, BBC Knowledge and MTV Base that have incorporated African content in some of their shows”, he said.
