PHOTOS: Dede Ayew beats Asamoah Gyan, Two others to win 2015 SWAG Sports Personality of the Year

Black Stars deputy skipper and Swansea City ace Andre Dede Ayew last night joined the growing league of sporting personalities to be named as the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Sports Personality of the Year for 2015.

He shrugged of opposition from the likes of Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan, Black Queen’s and Sekondi Hasaacas coach Yusif Basigi and defending Ghana Premier League winning coach Bashiru Hayford of Obuasi AshantiGold.

Aside that the former World U-20 winner brushed off challenge from fellow team mates, captain Asamoah Gyan and Harrsion Afful to win the Footballer of the Year award as well.

Special Awards – Police Women’s Hockey team (silver medalist, African Hockey Club Championships)

Special Awards – Eben Annang Whyte (development of table tennis)

Male Judoka Of The Year– Emmanuel Nartey (All Africa Games 60kg bronze medalist)

Female Judoka Of The Year- Szandra Szögedi

Para-Athlete Award– Patrick Yaw Obeng (1,500 & 800 T54 category bronze medalist at the All Africa Games)

National team of the year– Black Queens (For their gold winning feat at the All Africa Games)

National Team Of The Year– Golden Rackets (George Darko & Wisdom Na-Adjrago- Gold medalist at the All Africa Games)

Male Hockey Player Of The Year– Johnny Botsio (Black Sticks & Trustees player)

Female Hockey Player Of The Year – Nafisatu Umaru ( Most Valuable Player at African Hockey Championship in Zambia, league and Knockout winner with the Police Hockey Team)

Amateur Boxer Of The Year– David Bawa (Heavyweight bronze medalist at the 2015 AAG).

Athlete Of The Year (Male) – John Ampomah (Javelin Silver medalist at AAG, 2 national records).
