Dancehall act Ebony Reigns has shared her perspectives about what Dancehall genre should be all about.
“Yeah I’m a bad girl and what makes me a bad girl is how I slay in everything I do,” she told Enoch Asare (Feeling Daddy) on the Empire Entertainment Review on Empire 102.7FM when asked by the host if she is a ‘bad girl’.
According to her for a female to excel in the Dancehall genre, she must have the bad girl mindset which will propel her to the top.
“You can’t be a good girl and be a dancehall artist. Dancehall is different from reggae but from a female perspective dancehall should be explicit.”
Ebony Reigns real name Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng indicated that Jamaican Dancehall act, Spice is seen as one bad girl and she depicts that in her music.
She also spoke about MzVee’s brand. “That is the type of brand she’s chosen to put out there. She is doing dancehall music but to me Dancehall is stronger than that.”
Ebony, a VGMA Unsung nominee is one of the fastest growing Dancehall act in the country. She has a lot of songs to her credit.
