Award-winning Ghanaian contemporary gospel music artiste, CwesiOteng, seems to have a lot going on for himself as he is in the news for all the right reasons. Just a couple of days ago, the organizers of the annual Africa Gospel Music Awards (AGMA) released the nomination list for the 2013 edition of the prestigious awards.
Cwesi bagged 5 high profile nominationsfrom the list making history as the highest nominations by an artiste this year- Overall Artiste of the Year (Male), Song of the Year, Album of the Year (Mercy Project Album), West African Artiste of the Year and Event of the Year (Mercy Project Album Release Concert @ AICC).
He has also been billed as a headline performing artiste on the night of the event which is scheduled for Saturday, 6th July, 2013, at the 3 million-pound recently refurbished Great Hall of Queen Mary’s University of London in the vibrant and trendy East End of London.
Voting has begun and organisers are entreating all fans and gospel music lover to log on to AGMA’s official website www.africagospelawards.com to check the full list of nominees and vote for their favourite from now till midnight of 30th June.
Owing to the diversity of the African gospel music scene, Cwesi’s diverse music style tends to be well appreciated. Therefore came as no surprise that Cwesi leads the nominations list for Africa’s most prestigious gospel honorary event that annually recognizes and celebrates talented and hardworking Africa Gospel music: artistes, personalities, organisations and programmes from all over the globe.
The 2013 VGMA Gospel Album of the Year winner had an incredible year in 2012 which saw his major hit songs God Dey Bless Me and Kabiyesi making huge waves all over Africa by getting on to top gospel music radio and TV shows and charts in countries such as Kenya, Gambia, Nigeria, Malawi, Togo, South Africa among others and even on Christian radio and African programmes outside Africa in the UK, US and Europe.
In a related development, CwesiOteng dropped a new hot single, ‘Count Your Blessings’ over the weekend and already the song is receiving so much buzz on social media. ‘Count Your Blessings’ is Cwesi’s second single released this year after the techno-azonto fused ‘I Win’ was released on Jan 28 to begin his BBnZ Live chapter. Videos for the two singles are expected to be out when the artiste returns from gracing the stage at the Africa Gospel Music Awards event on July 6.
