Be wise and stay away from drugs – Kwaw Kese to the youth

Barely a year after Hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kese, was arrested for smoking India Hemp in Kumasi, he made a return to the Baba Yara Stadium last Saturday for the Luv FM Schools Reunion a changed man and an anti-drug abuse advocate.

Almost every rendition of the crowd-puller on the day was laced with a message on the negative effects of illicit drug use as his fans jumped, stamped their feet and danced unending in a jammed-packed event which attracted both the old and the youth.

The slender artiste who was in an all-red jumpsuit with an inscription; ‘Jail Bird’, and a pair of brown combat boots to match was in his element as he literally pulled the fans along with him with each move.

Perhaps, what sent the fans into an ecstatic mood and a nostalgic memories of his arrest was his Massa I Beg song which narrated his ordeal in prison and eulogise the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr Nathan Kofi Boakye.

The award-wining artiste intermittently paused to address the youth to shy away from drugs in order not to fall into the grips of the law.Kwaw Kese - GhanaGIst

“Remember no one is above the law. The law is no respecter of persons and you have to be wise”, Kwaw Kesse told the yelling fans.

But the performance moved to a different real when self-acclaimed Dancehall King, Shatta Wale, mounted the podium to perform.

Unfortunately, Shatta’s ‘vim’ and fire was extinguished a few minutes after mounting the stage when the lights went off.

Apparently shattered and disappointed, Shatta Wale never made a return to the stage even when power was restored within 10 minutes.

However, his reaction did not go down well with to patrons who described it as ‘childish’.

“What kind of arrogance is that? I thought he has changed”, a disappointed fan told the Graphic Showbiz.

Early on, several ‘underground’ artistes and dancers showcased their talents. They included Big Bone and Aban, Kofi Beat & Lil Nashi.
