Black Satellites lost 2-1 to the Young Walias of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa this afternoon in the first leg qualifier for next year’s African Youth Championships (AYC) in Zambia.
The Ethiopians were rewarded as early as the fourth minute with the opener when striker Mohammed Ome shot pass goalkeeper Kwame Baah in post for the Black Satellites
Ome doubled the lead on the 9th minute of the game.
The Black Satellites fought for the equalizer but they failed to fine the net to end the half 2-0 down.
The three-time AYC Champions had to wait until the 88th minute of the game to pull one back through Jonah Osabutey who finished off a beautiful move in the box by captain Mohammed Dauda.
Coach Dramani’s side will host the Ethiopians in the return leg on June 12 in Ghana with the winner over both legs either playing Senegal or Tunisia for a place among the final eight for the tournament proper in Zambia scheduled from February 26th to March 12th, 2017.
Four semi-final teams at the Zambia championships will represent Africa at the FIFA Youth World Cup to be staged in South Korea from May 20th to June 11th, 2017.
