Afriyie (of Wutah fame) won the best Highlife Artiste at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards on Saturday. In a post VGMA interview, he expressed his appreciation to his fans and discussed the future of Wutah and his solo career as well.
He told Kojo Akoto Boateng on the Ultimate Drive that he “felt sad that I wasn’t there with my colleage Kobby (of Wutah fame). He revealed that he wished that instead of the name Afriyie being called to collect the award, the name Wutah rather was mentioned.
He was however quick to set the records straight on the future of Wutah. “The group fell apart not on a bad note. We decided to work on solo projects…For now we are not planning on coming together because lots of work has gone into our works individually. He has his management team and I have mine as well so if I say we are gonna come back anytime soon that will be a lie…..the group doesn’t exist, we are individuals now but the brand Wutah lives,” he stressed.
Among other things, Afriyie revealed plans for his album, his sentiments about the Ghana Music Awards and his view on the Kaakie/Shata Wale impasse.
