Actor John Dumelo and movie maker Shirley Frimpong-Manso have signed up as ambassadors for the UNAIDS Protect The Goal campaign of the United Nations’ body for HIV/AIDS, UNAIDS.
Ghana Protect the Goal is the Ghana Chapter of the “Protect the Goal” initiative, a brand new slogan, in the framework of UNAIDS’ sport for global advocacy.
The mission of the scheme is to articulate effective, relevant and timely information, packaged in short, clear and easy to understand messages with the aim of empowering the youth of Ghana to apply safe sex and protect from new HIV infection.
The campaign runs with three key messages which are use condoms, know your HIV status and reduce sexual partners.
The two pledged and signed the Protect The Goal campaign at the premiere of “Love Or Something Like That” at the National Theatre. They have now joined several other Ghanaian celebrities as ambassadors.
The exercise was administered by the Country Director of the UNAIDS, Girmay Haile.
